MLSE LAUNCHES FIVE COLLECTIBLE VENUE GUIDES FOR FANS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, MLSE has announced its support of social venture, Magnusmode, to launch digital, collectible guides that improve the arena’s in-venue experience for fans with cognitive special needs. Whether it be a Toronto Maple Leafs or Toronto Raptors game or one of the many concerts hosted at the venue, Air Canada Centre is proud to provide a support tool that enhances and creates extraordinary moments for all fans.
The digital guides, called ‘Card Decks’, are hosted within the free Magnusmode web and mobile app, MagnusCards, which houses downloadable Card Decks for venues across North America. Each collectible Card Deck provides step-by-step visual instructions that prepare people for various social interactions in community spaces. With this innovative and engaging support, people with cognitive special needs are empowered to navigate community spaces and scenarios with greater confidence and independence. The app is particularly useful in supporting individuals with autism, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Asperger’s, acquired brain injury, Down Syndrome, intellectual disabilities and dementia to live with greater inclusion.
The new MLSE Card Decks will each cater to in-venue specific aspects that fans attending events at Air Canada Centre can benefit from. These include: buying tickets for an event, entering the venue, finding your seat, how to receive assistance and purchasing concessions and merchandise. MLSE wants to empower all fans to independently achieve their goals, leading to a more enhanced and engaged experience for every event attendee.
MagnusCards will be introduced and accessible to fans through methods including Air Canada Centre’s A-Z guide online, handout cards in-arena and more. The MLSE Card Decks can be found in the Sports & Entertainment category in the MagnusCards app, which is available in Apple and Google Play stores.
About Magnusmode
Magnusmode is the company behind MagnusCards and was founded by Nadia Hamilton, whose brother Troy has autism. When Troy graduated from high school, there were few opportunities for continued personal and social development. This inspired Nadia to start a company that leverages technology to empower and support people with cognitive special needs. MagnusCards is a fun digital life skills guide that helps people thrive and gain independence. The free app is available for download for iOS and Android.
