The Toronto Maple Leafs will honour one of the earliest eras in the franchise’s history by wearing Toronto St. Pats uniforms when they face off against the Chicago Blackhawks at Air Canada Centre on Saturday. This special St. Pats night continues the club’s Centennial anniversary season celebrations and pays tribute to the period from 1919-1927 when the club played under the St. Pats name.

To mark this occasion, the team will sport uniforms inspired by the ones worn by legendary players from St. Pats history such as Hap Day, Babe Dye and Jack Adams. The Maple Leafs have only worn St. Pats uniforms once since changing the club’s name in 1927, 75 years later on March 2, 2002 when the team hosted the Buffalo Sabres at Air Canada Centre.

In addition to the sweaters, several St. Pats theme elements will be part of the in-game experience. Fans attending the game will receive a special green St. Pats rally towel upon entry courtesy of Molson Canadian and can visit the Toronto Maple Leafs Store powered by Real Sports Apparel to purchase items from two special collections including t-shirts, hoodies and headwear pieces featuring the St. Pats logo. As part of the Centennial anniversary banner tour, the Maple Leafs will honour one of the franchise’s most famous Irishmen, King Clancy, by hanging both his original Maple Leaf Gardens and Air Canada Centre banners for the evening. Giveaways and features will be centred around the St. Pats and one lucky fan in attendance will win a trip to Ireland courtesy of Tourism Ireland. In addition, the CN Tower will be illuminated green that night to commemorate the occasion.

The St. Pats celebrations at Air Canada Centre will be preceded by a St. Patrick’s Day themed game at Ricoh Coliseum held by the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies on Friday, March 17 versus the Binghamton Senators. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive the same commemorative St. Pats rally towel and themed in-game elements. Limited tickets to the game are available at marlies.ca.
